Weekly Astrology Forecast for September 17-23, 2023*  – Autumn Equinox Reset!

Tension dissipates at the start of the week as a square between the two planetary benefics perfects. The celestial message is to strive for lightness, making lemonade out of lemons, even as the Libra Moon separates from its intense conjunction to Mars and opposition to retrograde Chiron in Aries. Much of Sunday may be about recovery and restoration, seeking out equilibrium after any heated clashes late last week.

The waves may not entirely subside, however, as the Moon perfects to an opposition to retrograde Eris in Aries. Despite a prevailing desire to keep the peace, the Goddess of Discord in the sign of the battle ram may have other ideas. Luna’s subsequent conjunction to the South Node could leave us feeling drained.

A square between the Moon and retrograde Pluto in Capricorn perfects around 9:06 PM EDT, doing much to escalate emotional intensity. As the Libra Moon seeks balance, the Lord of the Underworld may have us feeling oppressed.

 —

Monday, September 18 begins under the Moon’s ingress into Scorpio, where we may be forced to confront emotional struggles of a different ilk. The brief conjunction between the Moon and Ceres may have us waking up with relationships on our mind; try not to obsess over the small things.

A trine between Luna and retrograde Saturn in Pisces helps to moderate any Scorpionic depths we may feel drawn into, inviting much-needed perspective and a modicum of Piscean sensitivity. The early evening sextile between the Moon and Mercury may offer us a sliver of opportunity to address anything that has been bothering us. If we can lean into the rationality of a Mercurial tongue, we may effectively argue our case.

Early risers will wake to a Moon-retrograde Jupiter opposition perfecting around 6:14 AM EDT on Tuesday, September 19. The pull of the past may be too strong to ignore as we reflect on obstacles that prevented us from living our best life. As Jupiter’s apparent backward motion pushes us to dig deep for inner wisdom, Luna may find comfort in the subsequent square to Venus in Leo, which could present a solution: the key may be harnessing what brings us pleasure and helps us express our personal flair, whatever that means to us. Courage is needed to help Luna slay our inner demons, while a good cry may be what we need to help purge lingering emotional baggage.

The AM commute under the Sun-retrograde Neptune opposition could have us shifting course. As we reconsider past missteps, the practicality of the Virgoan Sun may have us negotiating how to integrate our desires within the harsher realities around us. This is the ideal solar placement under which to examine our aims and objectives, while Sol is still answering to a powerful Mercury in tip-top intellectual shape.

A mid-morning square between Luna and Juno may have us momentarily jarred by tensions in a partnership. This could manifest with a lover as much as a friend, so keep a watchful eye on your reactions. As the Moon remains slightly volatile, we may lash out if we feel backed into a corner or undermined by someone we trust.

As the Moon slides into an opposition to retrograde Uranus in Taurus around 8:45 PM EDT, we may get a little release on our emotional pressure cooker. While the intensity of the day’s events could culminate in a slightly chaotic whirl of racing thoughts, one of them could push us towards greater liberation.

As Luna cruises into a trine to retrograde Neptune in Pisces on Wednesday, we stand to get a little relief, waking as the Moon quickly applies to a sextile to the Sun in Virgo and retrograde Pluto in Capricorn, restoring a sense of personal power over our present circumstances.

By mid-morning, we can welcome the Moon’s ingress into Sagittarius, inviting a much-needed tonal shift. Dry your eyes and shake yourself out of your present funk because the wisdom-seeking and adventurous sign of the archer will imbue Luna with a burst of optimism.

Retrograde Saturn may try to rain on our parade just after lunch hour, contributing to an inner battle between letting loose with devil-may-care abandon and paying careful attention to the needs of those around us. Ceres’ trine to Saturn may temper any downturn in the celestial forecast, inviting us to patch-up disagreements with loved ones, while the Moon’s sextile to Pallas Athena may help us forge strategic connections going forward.

Thursday, September 21 offers us another brief reprieve from the ebbs and flows of the firmament. Most of us will sleep through Luna’s kinetic square to Mercury, though we may wake under its more clear-headed energies.

A brief, supportive sextile between the Moon and Hygeia may be a helpful reminder to prioritize self-care, while a sextile between Luna and Mars may invite us to take action in that direction.

The trine between Venus and the Moon, both within orb of aspect to Juno, perfecting around 6:26 PM EDT could have us shaking off our more serious side. As Venus demands pleasure, the Sagittarian Moon is up for the challenge. We may find ourselves calling our besties, dressing up for a night out, or throwing caution to the wind as Mighty Aphrodite begs us to let our hair down. The trine between the Moon and retrograde Chiron may have a restorative effect on our psyches.

Friday morning’s Moon-Neptune square could have us dreaming about the weekend, though not before the Moon and Sun form a square, marking the First-Quarter Moon. Intentions seeded under last week’s Virgo New Moon may be fully planted, but the Moon’s First Quarter is the make-or-break moment of picking a lane.

The twentieth-century astrologer Dane Rudhyar wrote that the First-Quarter Moon “represents a crisis of action,” bringing the “very quality of change into focus.” This is a dynamic point in the lunar cycle where options are revealed to us, and choices need to be made.

This prevailing energy forms the backdrop of Luna’s late-afternoon ingress into Capricorn, fueling our desire to commit to a path. The grounding earth energy will help the Moon come down from its playful Sagittarian sojourn, impressing upon us the importance of getting down to brass tacks and practical go-forward plans.

Many of us may be fast asleep as the Sun slips into equinoctial Libra in the wee hours of Saturday, profoundly shifting the tenor of the year. This is the mid-way point of the astrological calendar — the half-way point between one solar ingress into Aries and another — and a decisive moment at which to weigh our personal choices. It’s not too late to shift the balance of our lives, particularly as the Sun’s more mature energies call us towards introspection, evaluating what we’ve put out in the world and what the karmic boomerang may have returned to us. With so many planets retrograde in the sky, the Sun echoes the call for us to take stock before taking action.

We rise and shine under the forgiving energies of a Venus-retrograde Chiron trine, embodying the spirit of re-evaluation and compassion for ourselves and others. This celestial signature may have you reaching for your journal as you reconnect with your personal truth and what your heart desires.

Luna benefits from an early-afternoon trine to Mercury in Virgo, amplifying our desire to knock things off our to-do list by prioritizing what brings the greatest order into our lives. The Moon quickly applies to a second trine to retrograde Jupiter, offering another burst of optimism in the face of so much earthy practicality. We may pause briefly to reconsider how the previous tense Scorpionic-Lunar confrontations earlier in the week may see resolution through this more harmonious watershed. However, this may be short-lived as the Moon is bound for a clash as it reaches squares to both Mars in Libra and Chiron in Aries. If we’re out on the town, take care not to poke any bears.
