Weekly Astrology Forecast for July 2–8, 2023* -Luna-ttack!

Hey star-gazers! This week has a strong lunar storyline, changing tone and register with the speed and swiftness that only hustling Luna can impart. Like a celestial mood ring with its changing colours, expect the high-octane rush of the Moon booting through the zodiac to end on an especially spicy ingress into Aries by the close of the week. Though Luna will spend a slower few days in Saturnine signs before plunging deep into the bowels of our emotions later in the week, any calmness and rationality imparted from its jaunt through Capricorn will dissipate after the Full Moon, inviting all manner of impetuousness into the foreground of our lives.

Sunday, July 2 begins under the counterproductive square between the Moon in truth-seeking and freedom-loving Sagittarius and retrograde Neptune in gimme-all-the-feels Pisces. Thankfully, the mood shifts decisively after lunch (EDT), where Luna enters Saturn’s more practical domicile. Cool heads may prevail as the Moon in Capricorn grounds our emotional baseline while Venus and Uranus square off, quite literally, adding a volatile sizzle to matters concerning relationships, finances, friendships, and even our appearance. Will you or won’t you dye your hair purple? Will you or won’t you splurge on that fancy tech item? The Moon may have you relying less on emotion and basing your decisions on sober second thought as you navigate the energies of the day.

The more stabilizing lunar energies underpin the July 3 Full Moon in Capricorn, which brings matters pertaining to our career, public reputation and standing in the world into the spotlight.

Saturn, the ruler of this lunation, is retrograde in Pisces, which can sometimes unfold as more internally focused energy, imprinting the signature of this Full Moon onto the landscape of our emotions. Though Saturn isn’t the most feeling-focused of the planets, it could nevertheless take us into the past, leading us to reflect on whether every ounce of effort we’ve poured into the Capricorn-ruled areas of our lives has indeed been worth it. This contemplative energy is mirrored in Luna’s opposition to Mercury in Cancer, separating from its conjunction to Sol last week. Any mental blocks holding us back could finally be abating.

Pluto is in a very wide orb co-presence with Luna, adding depth, intensity and power to this lunation. As Saturn has us reflecting on whether our personal brand gets its much-deserved glow-up, Pluto may have us feeling entitled: like something that we’ve worked hard for is owed to us. And isn’t it about time?

Jupiter and Luna also form a sextile, albeit a separating one, which may not invite bountiful riches from the monetary gas giant’s temporary Taurean domicile. Nevertheless, there’s a little luck involved here — a little kiss of destiny, especially with the lunar node more potently hovering over that last degree of Taurus.

If we may have been feeling a little lower key under the damper of Saturn’s coolness and dryness, the July 4 Moon-Eris square could sow the seeds of emotional discord. As the Moon-Pluto conjunction in Capricorn perfects, the tense Aries square could have us pitting our more assertive desires for instant results against the slower and steadier drumbeat of protracted Saturnian hard work.

The Moon’s subsequent ingress into Aquarius might do little to calm the choppy celestial waters; its sign-based opposition to Mars and Venus in Leo could have us sparring with loved ones and coming off a little more high-maintenance and diva-esque. Might rarely ever makes right and under this celestial signature it definitely does not! The July 6 square between Mercury and Cancer and Chiron in Aries could have us eating humble pie as a wounding over words could be an inevitable fallout.

Things settle down on July 7, as the Moon meets up with Saturn in Pisces and trines the Sun in Cancer, inviting a harmonious denouement to the drama of the week. Mercury in Cancer’s sextile to Uranus in Taurus could inject one final frisson of electric energy. The snap, crackle and pop of these two planetary lightning rods could be more muted in the slower fixity of earth and the diluting domicile of watery Luna. We could, however, benefit from a more seasoned approach to tackling problems with a fresh perspective.

The inspired kiss of innovative Uranus in fixed Taurus, could also offer a more lasting push towards making headway in any matters we’ve been turning over in our heads for some time. Though the practical bent of this sign may not necessarily offer out-of-the-box solutions, it could offer lasting ones, helping Mercury as it begins its cruise through its powerful Epimethean phase get significant traction in those Cancerian areas of our lives.

Finally, Mercury returns to visibility in the sky on July 8, making this a fairly potent day for Mercurial matters. This could also coincide with some surprising news from family members who may have been keeping intel under wraps, particularly since late June when Mercury underwent its evening setting. Just try to react calmly as the Moon slides into Aries late that afternoon. Sometimes saying what we think and giving a no-holds-barred assessment of our feelings may not be the most strategic way to handle strong emotions and unexpected news.
