Walkin' on Sunshine  --  The Astrology of June 2024*

Hush hush, star-gazers! Someone has a secret. A friend, a sister, a lover? Or maybe you’re simply overlooking the details of a financial matter — the fine print, the bigger picture? With Venus beginning the month combust (Jun. 1–3), matters under the Alchemical Goddess’s rule could be obscured. Although Mercury sextiling Neptune (Jun. 2) could have us distracted, all is not lost as Jupiter trines Pluto (Jun. 2). Power moves could be in the cards.

If May had you stopping to smell the roses, expect a high-octane first-half of the month as Mercury slides into Gemini (Jun. 3). We may live for the hustle, but making connections and setting new projects in motion may demand adaptability. Be ready to pivot on a dime this month, but use the helpful trine between Mercury and Pluto (Jun. 4) to do your homework.

Conjunctions to benefics pair great with cocktails as Mercury conjoins Jupiter (Jun. 4). It, and the Sun-Venus cazimi (Jun.4), marking the mid-way point of Venus’s eighteen-month cycle, spell positivity for a fated connection. If you’re angling for a summer romance, this could be the celestial signature under which to hit the patio or the dating apps.

The Gemini New Moon (Jun. 6) gets an amber light where new ventures are concerned. Its applying square to Saturn could make us feel isolated. Meanwhile Venus’s square to Saturn (Jun. 8) could see these feelings projected onto our closest relationships. The Sun’s 90-degree hit to Kronos (Jun. 9) has us demanding a commitment, but will Saturn in slippery Pisces be ready to play for keeps?

Mars marches into Taurus (Jun. 9) only to lose its bravado. For the duration of its stay, frustrations are sure to percolate as the star of Ares finds resistance to its machinations. The loudest voice won’t get heard, while soft diplomacy is hardly the strong suit of the God of War. Steadfast honesty and a clarity of purpose could help win friends and influence people.

A Mars-Pluto square (Jun. 11) sets off fireworks as tempers flare after we’ve kept things bottled up for far too long. Take care how you direct heated volatility lest you lose more than a few allies in the midst of a volcanic eruption. Thankfully, Mercury’s square to Saturn (Jun. 12) could help us thoughtfully pick up any pieces we need to.

Sol and Mercury conjoin (Jun. 14), marking another cyclical mid-point. The countdown to Mercury’s next retrograde gets real, tightening the screws on our best-laid plans. If you don’t want to get caught up in the stop-and-go energy of Mercury’s thrice-annual wash, rinse and repeat, try to make a strategic intent under this heavenly hallmark. The Sun and its current domicile ruler make this signature (with a hint of Uranus in semi-sextile) ripe with inspiration that pushes us to take a chance and get the ball rolling.

Did you make a connection at the start of the month? Book a date? Snag a number? Proceed with caution under Venus’s square to Neptune (Jun. 16). All that glitters may not be gold. As Mercury slips into nostalgic Cancer, don’t let your longing for belonging run roughshod over reality. The tendency to lose touch continues as the Sun pings Neptune (Jun. 20) in a tense square, beckoning us to lose ourselves in possibilities. Perhaps it’s a welcome prelude to the Solstice; we can regain equilibrium, embracing light and shadow as the day finds its perfect balance just in time for a sobering Capricorn Full Moon that invites us to get serious about emotional security (Jun. 21).

June ends on a few gentler transits: a Mercury-Saturn trine (Jun. 26) inviting a moment of circumspection, and sextiles between Mercury and Uranus and Venus and Mars (both Jun. 29) offering glimpses into fruitful ideas and creative potential. The most destabilizing aspect comes from Mercury’s square to Chiron (Jun. 28). Take care lest we resurface old wounds left untreated. We may have time to revisit root causes when, configured in a loose square to Saturn, the planet of boundaries and discipline turns retrograde. Have we been failing in our duty to ourselves? Now is the time to recommit to putting ourselves first.
